School Council

What is a School Council?

A school Council is an ideal opportunity for pupils to get more involved with the way the school is run. They are made up in a number of ways but usually have representatives from each class and year group. It is the responsibility of each class councillor to ensure that they express both their own views and the views of all the pupils they represent.

What sorts of things do we change?

Here is what some of our Councillors said:

  • We decided that our playground should be more fun, so we chose some equipment and had it installed.
  • We thought that our school toilets were in need of a makeover, so we voted and decided on some new ones.
  • We get involved in projects and help organise events at school, like the fashion show!
  • We visit other schools and go to forums in the community.
  • We get involved with local organisations. Remember the recycled bag man in Sainsburys? We did that!
  • We discuss ways to make our learning more creative and fun.
